Blood Donor's Club Karwan-e-Khair Blood Donor Club established in the year 1996. The objective behind the establishment of Blood Donor Club was to provide safe blood to the patient’s community. Factories, organizations, educational institutes and common men and women are included in Karwan-e-Khair blood donor’s club and the needy peoples are increasing day by day. Its basic theme to collect the blood by camping and provide to its members on requirement. By the grace of Allah, branches of Blood Donor's Club started in Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Saidu Sharif (Swat), Kalam, , Kaghan, Kalash, Allai, Thar. Blood Donor Camps Karwan-e-Khair arrange several Blood Donor Camps. Blood Donors are unsung heroes who make a huge contribution in saving someone’s life. For people who may have a friend or a family member in need, the blood available for transfusion is truly precious. A man who rolls his sleeve to give blood to help another life, no badge of service does he wear, he lives a “HERO” unaware. According to experts, it is estimated that in Pakistan 1.5 million units of blood every year are required to replace blood loss for trauma victims as well as treatment of blood related diseases. Some facts regarding blood donation are however, important to understand. What is Safe Blood? Blood that does not contain any viruses, parasites, drugs, alcohol, chemical substances or other extraneous factors that may cause harm to the recipient. Are there any risks in giving blood? Donating blood is completely safe. On the contrary, it has already been scientifically established that regular blood donation reduces chances of heart attacks. How often can blood be donated? Once every 3 months. How long does it take for the donor’s body to replenish the blood donated? The donor’s body replenishes the fluid lost from donation in 24 to 48 hours. However, the reproductions of red blood cells are subject to each individual’s health. Who can donate blood? A person wanting to donate blood must be in good health, between 18-60 years of age, weight at least 50 kgs and have minimum hemoglobin level of 12g% for females and 12.5g% for males. All donors must pass the physical examination prior to donation.
Who should not donate blood? In order to save or help needy lives, it is very important that the blood donor answer questions for donor selection honestly. Reasons for ineligibility are: • Persons who have used illegal intravenous drugs • Persons who have received clotting factor concentrates • Persons with a positive antibody test for HIV, Hepatitis ‘B’ or ‘C’ • Persons at risk of diseases due to unprotected sex It would be a generous act to come forward to offer the gift of life to those in need and encourage others to do the same. This precious gift is a small contribution for a person to make, but is truly a selfless act as most people do not realize the importance of blood until their friend or loved ones need it. Let’s make sure we have an adequate supply of blood available for all who need it. Please take a few moments of your time and give the “GIFT OF LIFE” to your society. RULES AND REGULATION As you know the principles are very important to run any project. The aim of these principles are not to disturb others but to run the system and provide facilities to the people (for your convince all available data have been computerized by blood donor club). In this connection Karwan-e-Khair have introduced some principles for this project, which are as follows: 1. It is compulsory for every permanent blood donor that without informing Karwan-e-Khair he will not give his blood to any other, suppose donor (A) donate his blood by himself without informing Karwan-e-Khair, now when you need the blood and you go towards the donor, he say that he had already denoted the blood, but when the same donor wants the blood and he shows his donor card and insist for blood, which is not a right way. 2. Whenever permanent donor or his parents, brother, sister, wife and children needs the blood, we will immediately help and there will be no charges except to fill the request form. 3. If relatives of permanent donor need the blood they will also be treated but has to follows some rules: a. To fill the request form and surrender the original CNIC. b. Blood will be given in a specific quantity. c. It is compulsory for a permanent donor to return the blood within 10 days, through any donor. 4. Instructions for Return Blood. The method of returning blood is that the person who took the blood should go the blood bank with his donor & deposit the blood into the registered account of Karwan-e-Khair, take receipt, and submit the same in the office of Karwan-e-Khair and get back his original CNIC. 5. Person who is not a member of Karwan-e-Khair will also be treated in an emergency for specific time because life is very important, he has to fulfill Clause No.3 (a,b,c). 6. There is an agreement between Karwan-e-Khair and blood banks, therefore, we deposit there some blood, and in case of emergency we have an option to take blood from there, after fulfill the requirement we have to recover the blood through the donor’s for future use. 7. Instructions For Receiving Blood. i. To fill the request form of Karwan-e-Khair. ii. Once you fill up the request form, your record (data) will be maintained at our end, this form will reflect who referred, received along with approval authority and also signatures of In-charge blood service. iii. Doctor’s prescription, diagnosis of patient and number of blood bag(s) required should be mentioned in the request form. iv. Blood sample of the patient in 10cc/5cc quantity. v. Blood coupon issued by Karwan-e-Khair, in which required information i.e. patient name, address and his signature must be filled. One coupon is valid for one blood bag only. vi. One’s the blood bag taken, will not be returned, therefore, do not take blood beyond your requirement. vii. Cost of blood bags and screening of blood should be paid to the blood bank authority, while taking blood from them. viii. If, required blood group is not available at blood bank, please avoid any contention, contract any representative of Karwan-e-Khair & inform him. Otherwise your membership will be cancelled, because your good behavior will make our work easier. Karwan-e-Khair doing this noble works voluntary in the city with the assistance of other blood banks. We are here to help out each other and by mischance there is an unavailability of blood don’t be worried we will solve it out amicably without any kind of scuffle and haste round the clock. Note: Blood will be available only in case of emergency, until sufficient quantity of blood is available with us or in our account. However, this restriction will not apply in the case disease requiring continuous blood transfusion such as Thalassaemia, Allai Leucokemia, Aplastic Anemia, Cancer etc. |
