Swat is a valley and an administrative district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. It is the upper valley of the Swat River, which rises in the Hindu Kush range.

The names found in ancient sources for Swat are Udyana and Suvastu because of the scenic beauty of the valley and the name of the river respectively.

With high mountains, green meadows, and clear lakes, it is a place of great natural beauty and is popular with tourists. Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to the The Yusafzai State of Swat called it "the Switzerland of the east.

The capital of Swat is Saidu Sharif, but the main town in the Swat valley is Mingora. It was a princely state (see The Yusafzai State of Swat) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until it was dissolved in 1969 along with many other princely states like Dir state and Chitral state. The valley is populated mostly by ethnic Pashtuns (more than 80%) and small Gujjar and Kohistani communities. The languages spoken in the valley are Pashto (95%) , Gojri, Torwali and Kohistani.

Swat is surrounded by Chitral, Upper Dir and Lower Dir in the West , Gilgit-Baltistan in North And Kohistan, Buner and Shangla in the East and south East.

The valley is an integral part of the strategic and significant region where three parts of the Asian continent–South Asia, Central Asia and China, meet.

Alexander the Great came here in 327 BC en route India and conquered Bazira and Ora. At his departure the inhabitants of the area threw off Greek yoke, and enjoyed either independent or semi-independent status subsequently. In the meantime Buddhism penetrated here and Swat became center of Buddhist/Gandhara civilization. The Turki Shahis incorporated Swat in their kingdom but at the decline of their power it remained exposed to Hindu Shahis’ influence.

In early tenth century CE/AD, the Muslims occupied Swat. Consequently, Afghans from different tribes, commonly called Swati Pukhtun, came and settled here. They remained independent of the neighboring powers.

School Swat IDPs June 03 – 2009: Karwan-e-Khair arrange serverals programmes for the affectees of Swat, Buner, Dir, Bajaur, as people are migrating in the wake of ongoing clashes between security forces and militants in tribal areas. Pakistan is currently facing the largest human displacement after 1947.

During distribution of Aid for IDP's (Internally Displaced Person) of Swat, we meet a little girl, whose name was Aimon, who speaks English. When we left she sends me message

"Hi Uncle! I am aimon, we meet this noon today, i appreciate your help provided to IDPs. Allah will give you reward. Please pray for us to go to our paradise. I am much worry about my studies".

by the grace of Allah, we established a school on 09th June 2009 with the name of AMAN MISSON SCHOOL at wapda colony near rahman cotton mills, Takht Bai District Mardan.

The name of school was selected by Aimon, in which highly educated students of Swat teach others. Opening ceremony was held on Friday, 12th June 2009, in which children displayed Qiraat, Hamd, Naat, Poems, Tablows, National Anthem. At the end of program school uniforms, bags, stationary, books, staff, cloths, sports items, we distributed among students.
